Dec 18, 2012  DJay 2 is better The graphics on this version are more basic and cartoony than DJay 2. Dislike the new “impossible” slotless cross fader and portrait mixer faders which to me just look and feel wrong and the new basic shading on the timetables, tone arm & platter look less professional compared to the realistic and more solid style and layout of DJay 2.

Digital DJ Tips reader Germain writes: “Question: I want to record a mix using music from a Spotify playlist in Algoriddim’s djay Pro software. There is no record button when you use the Spotify library in djay Pro. I am wondering if anyone can help? I have a MacBook Pro and I have a WeGO Controller.”

2. I've seen questions about recording Spotify tracks in DJay Pro a number of times in this sub, since the software doesn't allow it natively. I use DJay Pro when mixing at home and have recently been looking for an easy plug & play solution for recording sets.
3. Dec 12, 2017 If you use visuals while you DJ, Djay Pro 2 has built upon its existing video mode. Like in the previous version, you can mix videos with a grip of built-in transitions, apply reactive visualizers with motion graphics that sync to your music, and overlay graphics with text or additional images, like a logo.

This often baffles DJs when trying to record a mix they’re performing using music from Spotify in djay Pro (or other streaming services in other software, the other big one being Pulselocker in Serato DJ or the same service in Rekordbox DJ).

While DJ software nowadays is starting to incorporate streaming services, the issue is that the licences under which they are permitted to use music from streaming services forbid the recording of those performances.

It’s something that we can see not being a restriction at some point in the future when streaming services become the mainstream and owning music becomes an oddity, but for now, it’s there in the small print – which is why the buttons aren’t enabled. And while there are convoluted ways around it, it is currently illegal to do so.
